An open letter to the President and the Congress of the United States.

To the President and the Congress of the United States,

Now that the election of Massachusetts is over and "The People" have spoken - "Can you hear us now?"

The Republicans will tell you the people are fed up with Democrats. Democrats will deny that this was a referendum on Healthcare, Obama or the Democrat party. As an independent voter in Missouri who worked very hard for Scott Brown’s election, I will tell you that "The People" are fed up with BOTH parties, and angry with almost all the incumbents. So the Republicans should not be celebrating too soon or reading this election the wrong way. This election was NOT a "Republican" victory; it was a victory for "The People!"

We are fed up with back room deals. We are fed up with our tax money being used as bribe money to attain votes to pass bills we adamantly oppose. We are fed up with all the tax increases, be they direct, or indirect, such as Cap and Trade, The Cadillac Tax on our existing health insurance plans, or picking up the tabs for trial lawyers defending terrorists and war criminals in a New York courtroom, or education, healthcare and other social services for illegal aliens. We are fed up with a do-nothing congress, and Democrats blindly playing a child’s game of "Follow the leaders."

I am being very forthright and blunt with you. Brown’s success was the result of a very angry voting populace. If you want to know what we are angry about, then I’d be happy to tell you. Most of the anger arose from the Health Care bill. The People don’t like it and The People don’t want it. Listen again, I don’t care what you are being told by Washington politicians - "The People" don’t like it and don’t want it!!! Now if you didn’t hear that, then I’d suggest that you listen more closely to those election results in Massachusetts. That should be loud enough for you to hear.

Personally, the vast majority of my anger is equally split between my dislike for some of the legislation this Congress is passing and attempting to shove down my throat, and my great disdain with the methods being used to accomplish passage. Even if I had supported the Healthcare bill, I would have bitterly opposed the methods used by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to ram the legislation down the throats of the American People, and quite honestly I feel you should have too. Bribery is bribery, regardless of who promotes it, who receives it, and where it takes place! I believe it is even a greater offense when my tax dollars are being used by the "briber" to promote a personal agenda which I bitterly oppose, as is the case with Healthcare. This legislation is clearly not about content, but far more about ego, power, and money.

Of equal importance to me, is that you, and the rest of congress, are doing nothing except spending my Great, Great, Grand children into total oblivion! You haven’t even considered fixing what Congress has spent years screwed up, such as Social Security, Education, Illegal Immigration, Securing the boarders, Medicare/Medicaid, the War on Terrorism, Trials v Tribunals for enemy combatants, the Postal Service, our infrastructures, such as Transportation and Energy both of which gravely needs to be upgraded and technology desperately needs to be modernized. All these and many more programs are directly or indirectly controlled by you and the Federal Government - but yet all you say to me is, "Trust" us (Congress) with another Trillion-dollar program, when we (the People) know you will just screw that up too. All you and the Congressional Leadership seem to want to do is reinvent the wheel, spend more money, and raise more taxes, when most of these programs just need a lot of commonsense and a new spoke or two to fix them.

Why am I angry? Well I just told you the key general reasons, but I haven’t told you the negative impact your decisions will have on me. I retired early from my job because my employer was phasing out providing healthcare for retirees at a declining 10% per year rate. That means, because I retired the first year this program was implemented I have to pay 10% of my Healthcare costs. Had I waited it would cost me 10% more per year, for each year I put off retirement. I did not wish to retire when I did. My decision was strictly a financial decision. My healthcare plan will be considered a "Cadillac Plan" according to the Obama Administration. So that means instead of me paying $100 per month (my 10% of the total cost), if Obama and you get your ways and this terrible bill passes, because I am not a UNION retiree, I will have to pay $500 per month (my 10% + the government’s tax of $400), and that is based upon this year’s premium. We both know as insurance rates continue to climb, so will this tax. Yet you wonder why I am upset??????? And where does that money go - to the Government! Why? So you will have more money to waste!

Cap and (tax) Trade, according to my electric company, will increase my utility bill, by a minimum 50% the first year and most likely double over that within 3-5 years. So instead of giving the utility company $200 per month, if this bill happens to pass, I will be giving the utility company $300, ($200 for the energy I used and $100 for the government’s tax). And where does that money go - to the Government! Why? So you will have more money to waste!

Plus the impact of Cap and Trade will be felt in everything I buy. If my barber’s utility bill goes up by 50%, then he will have no choice but to raise his prices accordingly, so will the farmer, the trucker, my doctor, the university my daughter attends, the grocery store, the gas station, and on, and on. So the Government’s 50%, tax turns into a whole lot of money for consumers like me. And where does all that money go - to the Government! Why? So you will have more money to waste!

My suggestion is for all you people in congress is to:
First and foremost, remember you were elected by folks like me, and you will be re-elected, maybe, by folks like me!

Second, get off your backsides and quit trying to "think for" The People and start "listening to" The People, and fix what you have screwed up - Social Security, Education, Illegal Immigration, Boarder control, Medicare/Medicaid, the War on Terrorism, Trials v Tribunals for enemy combatants, the Postal Service, our infrastructures, Transportation and Energy that are in shambles and is in desperate need of upgrading and modernization.

I realize the solution is way too simple for a "politician" to comprehend, but it should be commonsense for an official elected by "The People." You can repair these areas, create jobs, reduce taxes, and be re-elected, or you can continue the path the Democrat Leadership is taking you down and get yourself voted out. The choice is yours, but remember "The People" are watching.

Sincerely,

GW Lowe

Massachusetts Senate Race will impact everyone!

Dear Friends,

The Massachusetts election is only a few days away (Tuesday, January 19, 2010) and the choice the voters of Massachusetts makes will impact all of us. The reality of this election is that either the Democrats will win this seat and continue to force, unwanted, unpopular, costly legislation down the throats of the American People completely unchecked, or the Conservatives will win this seat and bring back a voice of reason to Government, by stopping such unpopular, expensive legislation like Obama’s Socialized Health Care program.

The differences between Martha Coakley and Scott Brown are glaring and the impact from the results of this election will have an immense impact upon the all citizens of the United States.

After we found out that the Christmas Day attempted bombing of Flight 253 was planned by Al Qaeda in Yemen by terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay, Scott Brown stood up with most of us and demanded an immediate halt to Guantanamo Transfers!

But Martha Coakley didn’t, and still does not, see it that way. She has no problem giving terrorists like Khalid Sheik Mohammed or Umar Yousef Abdulmutallab the same constitutional rights as American citizens like you and I.
“We must balance defending American citizens with upholding the rights of the accused,” she says. “This balance has been thrown grossly out of joint in recent years, and I will bring my years of experience to getting it right again.” - Martha Coakley

Coakley makes it perfectly clear that she is more interested in putting the rights of the accused terrorists, picked up off a foreign battlefield, above your rights to life and safety here in your own country!!!!

In stark contrast, Scott Brown said:
“The security of our nation depends on keeping our guard up, not letting it down.” - Lt. Col Scott Brown

Scott Brown represents a great opportunity for us to elect someone who is not just a conservative, but someone who truly knows and understand what our troops go through, their needs, supports them, and supports their missions in the war on terror.

>> Scott Brown is a Lt. Colonel in the US Army National Guard

>> Scott Brown is a state senator with a strong voting record

>> Scott Brown is 100% committed to our troops. He has been one

>> Scott Brown understands our missions in Iraq and Afghanistan

>> Scott Brown will never compromise on American security

>> Scott Brown will hold America’s enemies accountable

>> Scott Brown has pledged to be the 41st Vote the Senate needs to defeat the Obama Socialized Health Care bill

The liberals are desperately working to defeat Scott Brown and are spending Millions of dollars, bringing in “Big-Gun” liberal speakers like Bill Clinton, busing in Union workers from other states to work for his opponent’s campaign, and the liberals are stooping to an all time low and discussing how they can block Scott Brown from being seated as a U.S. Senator, after he wins this election, at least long enough to bring Obama Socialized Health Care to a vote, before he can become a voting Senator.

I believe the elections that occur this year (in 2010) are the most important in my lifetime, and this Massachusetts Senate election could very well be the most important of all of this year’s elections. The outcome of this single election will impact all of us. Therefore, it behooves us greatly all to do what we can to promote a positive outcome. It’s our country and its time we took ownership, stood up, got active, and did our part. Its time to call our friends and family in Massachusetts and make sure they get out and vote. $5 and $10 controbutions go a long, long way when there are hundreds and thousands of people making those donations.

All eyes are on the Massachusetts Senate Race

All Eyes are on the Massachusetts Senate Race

Dear Friends,

With only a few days to go, all eyes are on the Massachusetts Senate Race.  This special election, to replace the vacant Senate seat of Edward M. (Teddy) Kennedy,  has shocked Democrats and suprised everyone else, especially Republicans.  No one ever expected this race to be close, much less this close and holding the potential for a Republican Win!

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state finds Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley attracting 49 percent of the vote while her Republican rival, state Sen. Scott Brown, picks up 47 percent. Other polls place the two statistically dead even or Scott Brown slightly ahead.  However, a week ago the polling results were much different, giving Coakley a 50 percent lead over Brown's 41 percent.

Three percent (3 percent) say they’ll vote for independent candidate Joe Kennedy, and two percent (2 percent) remain undecided.  I would point out that the independent is no relation to the late Edward M. (Teddy) Kennedy

Coakley is supported by 77 percent of Democrats while Brown picks up the vote from 88 percent of Republicans. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, Brown leads 71 percent to 23 percent. To be clear, this lead is among unaffiliated voters who are likely to participate in the special election.

Fifty-nine percent (59 percent) of likely voters in Massachusetts have a favorable opinion of Brown, and 58 percent say the same about Coakley.

Fifty-nine percent (59 percent) of voters think Coakley will win the election, while 33 percent expect a victory for Brown.

The closeness of this race in heavily Democratic Massachusetts is seen by Republicans as a moratorium on Obama’s ultra-liberal policies, especially Health Care.  This race has drawn increasing national interest due in part to Brown's statements making it perfectly clear that a vote for him is a vote to stop the national healthcare plan Democrats are pushing in Congress.

The outcome of this election will definitely impact the outcome of Obama’s Socialized Health Care bill. If everyone on my mailing lists were to contribute $5 to Brown’s campaign that would give him a considerable amount of help to work with. Not that I am suggesting any of you give $5 to his campaign, but I certainly know where I would put a $5 bill if I happened to have an extra one laying around. Please Check out Senator Brown’s Official website at http://www.brownforussenate.com/red-invades-blue You can navigate around the site from there.

Affordable Health Care for America Act - aka Obama Socialized Health Care Bill. Will it pass?

Dear Friends,

It is no secret that I, like many other citizens, bitterly oppose Government Control of my Health Care plan. My opposition is only strengthened by unethical, immoral, unprofessional actions of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi being so free with yours and my tax dollars. By offering tremendous amounts of "Bribe" money to Congressmen and Senators in order to gain their support, or at least vote, for Obama’s Socialized Health Care bill, they no only doing a grave disservice to the American People, but bringing dishonor upon the United States Congress. In light of their recent shenanigans, I find myself not as much concerned about the Trillion Dollar cost of the bill itself, but more concerned with the amount of money being spent to get it passed. With billions of dollars recklessly being paid out in "bribes" to the lacks of Mary Landrieu, Ben Nelson and others, the Trillion Dollar price tag on the bill itself, may turn out to be the cheaper of the two.

The light at the end of the tunnel? Well after a desperate Sen. Harry Reid strong-armed, cajoled, and bribed Democrat Senators in order to obtain the sixty votes necessary needed for "cloture" and then to pass the Senate version of Obama’s Socialized Health Care bill, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) engineered an "objection to the appointment of the conferees."

Senator DeMint’s objection means, according to: The U.S. Constitution, in Article I, Section 7.2, specifies that every bill has to pass both houses of Congress before it can be signed into law. However, it has to be the exact same bill that passes. That would generally mean, when a bill is amended in one house, as just occurred in the Senate where they amended the House bill so they could obtain the minimum sixty votes necessary for passage, a "conference committee" is appointed with members of both houses to work out the differences. Once agreement has been reached, then each house would vote on a final compromise bill. Once this compromise reaches the floor for vote, no amendments to this bill are allowed.

That's what usually happens... but with the Obama Administration’s new rule of "Transparency" this will not occur! The plans of Reid and Pelosi were to cut more closed door, backroom deals and a quick vote for passage before anyone had time to review the bill.

Now enter, Republican Leader McConnell. At the behest of Sen. DeMint, Leader McConnell actually objected to the appointment of the conferees. This action is very rare. It means that the Senate version of Obama’s Socialized Health Care bill must now be amended on the House floor to gain the votes they need to pass it on the House floor. Additionally, because of Sen. DeMint's objection to the appointment of the conferees, there will be no conference or conference report.

If the Democrats were to propose a motion to appoint conferees, that motion would be subject to filibuster. It would most likely require three separate cloture votes just to pass the motion to appoint conferees. So what does all this mean? It means that the Senate bill goes back to the House, which will have to debate it all over again, including amending it. With the heat and fallout that the voters - "the People" - have been putting on their Legislators, it could be quite difficult to get the necessary votes for passage this time. However, if the House successfully amends the Senate bill, they will then have to send the amended bill back to the Senate, where it starts all over again. This means Harry Reid will have to, once again, strong-arm, cajole, and bribe Democrat and Independent Senators in order to muster a sixty-vote margin for cloture. That means sixty votes for cloture on the motion to proceed, cloture to end the filibuster, and cloture on any amendment. That could be very difficult this time around.

Because of issues like abortion, the public option, taxation of union health care and Cadillac Health plans, and illegal immigrant coverage, which are all a part of Harry Reid’s compromise bill, it is nearly a certain bet that the House will amend the Senate bill. These are all "hot-button" issues, any one of which could kill the entire Obama Socialized Health Care bill. The closer to the November elections we get without passage, the more likely the bill is to fail. This could give a new Congress the opportunity to step back, take some time, and place some well deserved and much needed thought into a "real" Health Care Bill that will benefit all United States Citizens, instead of benefitting only a few at the expense of the rest.

Abortion controversy:

The Senate bill contains massive abortion funding by virtue of the Nelson-Reid abortion language contained in the bill. This allows states to force taxpayers to fund abortions with government funds. It also contains the Mikulski amendment, which would allow the Obama administration to define abortion as "preventative care" and force insurance companies to use taxpayers' premiums to pay for them. This is important because the House approved its bill on a very narrow three-vote margin, only because it contained the Stupak amendment which banned abortion funding. It is fairly unlikely the bill can make it out of the House without inclusion of the Stupak amendment. It is also fairly unlikely the bill can make it out of the Senate with the inclusion of the Stupak amendment. Regardless, abortion is going to be a major stumbling block for the Obama Socialized Health Care bill.

The "Public Option" controversy:

This would actually be better named the "Public Mandate" because that is exactly what it is. You will be mandated by the government to buy government approved Health Insurance or face fines and/or imprisonment. But you gotta give it to the liberals, they can surely work the words to sound pretty, regardless of how empty they are! I believe they refer to this bill as the Affordable Health Care for America Act. Sounds pretty nice for a very expensive "mandate" imposed on the American People don’t it!

The Public Option, "mandate," is rabidly supported by about sixteen far left-wing House Democrats who have pledged to vote against any bill that does not include a Public Option. However, there are several Democrat Senators who have publically stated they will vote against any bill that includes a public option.

There are a few Democrats who are starting to realize that the Senate bill will force millions of Americans into private insurance company plans that will be subsidized by taxpayers. It does not take a crystal ball to see this will do virtually nothing to reform health care, other than put the Government in the meddling-middle and produce windfall profits for the insurance companies, which was the key reason for the about-face and strong support by the AARP for the Senate version of the bill. Keep in mind the bill passed the House with only a two vote margin and the Senate by only one vote! Here again is another major stumbling block to passage of Obama’s Socialized Health Care bill.

The Taxation of Union and Cadillac Health Care plans:

There could very well be a split agreement here before the bill comes up for a vote. The Unions own Obama. I believe Obama will cut a deal with the Unions that will exempt Union Health Care Plans, but will impose a substantial tax on Large Business and private "Cadillac" plans. It is quite possible that you may see a redefinition of what constitutes a "Cadillac" plan. It will most certainly be revised to cover more people like you and me. In other words, it has the potential to become an issue, but I do not foresee it. Obama will protect the Unions and sell out the rest of us and make it through both Houses.

Coverage for Illegal Immigrants:

Another sticking point, nearly equal to the Abortion controversy, is whether illegal aliens should be covered. The final Senate bill prohibited any unauthorized immigrants from purchasing private health-care plans on the insurance exchange. However, House bill allows them to buy private insurance plans, but prohibits them from receiving any government subsidies to do so.

Recently, the White House tried to pressure the House into changing its immigration provisions to more closely resemble those of the Senate bill. However, when the Congressional Hispanic Caucus learned about this change they made it quite clear that they would vote against any such bill containing those provisions. Once again a major stumbling block for the bill. The Senate demands the prohibition, while the House demands the prohibition be removed.

The short of the story is simple - the Obama Socialized Health Care bill is not a "done deal" yet. The key issues, though very important, are not the ones I listed above. The key issue is, are you going to take an active role by voicing your opinions to your Congressman and Senators, or set back and allow them to vote as they please. Right now there is a vast amount of divisiveness among the Congressional Democrats and they will be listening more closely than ever to their constituents. Therefore, it is more important than ever you contact your Representatives in Congress and let them know where you stand on this bill.

Please remember - United We Stand - Keep the pressure on, write your senators and congressmen, and always remember - 2nd Chronicles 7:14, and Keep Looking Up!

Sincerely,

Gary

Cap-and-Trade. A tax revived?

As far as the Cap-and-Trade (tax) Bill is concerned, it appears that Senator Lisa Murkowski is a voice of reason in a chamber of confusion and turmoil.

Back in the late Summer 2009, after he voted for the House version of the Cap-and-Trade Bill, I wrote my Congressman, Ike Skelton, to complained about the negative financial impact this bill would have on Missourians and all people throughout the United States, especially those on fixed incomes. In his response, he stated that his vote in favor of this bill was a tough decision. He told me that if Congress did not act, the EPA would, and that he felt that I would much rather have "elected" officials making these types of decisions instead of some unknown "Bureaucrat" in a governmental agency. In my reply, I stated that the EPA was a creation of Congress, December 2, 1970, and could be dismantled by Congress, if Congress chose to do so. But more realisticly, because Congress sets the budget for the EPA, the EPA could be easily reminded that it worked for Congress and not the other way around, as he eluded. And furthermore, I felt that he had given me a choice between a heartless bureaucrat and a brainless politician to be making a major decision that would radically impact the finances of everyone in the United States who pay a utility bill.

Naturally the EPA’s efforts to regulate the Energy Industry, impose more regulation on American citizens, and raise more revenue for the Government without Congressional approval is completely backed by the Obama administration, which has been trying to push the Senate into passing Cap-and-Trade legislation, in much the same manner they used to pass Health Care.

Fortunately, the Senate is still reeling from strong voter backlash over the deals cut in order to pass the Health Care bill and they fear even more outrage from the voters over Cap and Trade.

With the Mid-term elections looming over the Democrats and Liberal Republicans in November, Cap-and-Trade has been slowed down, at least for the time being. Unfortunately, without Congressional action, the EPA is set to regulate vehicle emissions and factory pollutants this spring.

I am happy to learn that Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) plans to introduce an amendment to prevent the agency from taking action immediately, if at all. Her proposal is scheduled for a Jan. 20 vote.

At this time I cannot find out much concerning the specific details of Senator Murkowski's proposal. However, I do know that last fall she offered an amendment that would have delayed the EPA regulation for at least a year. This would have allowed Congress some very needed time to pass a climate bill. However, because the Democratic leadership did not allow the vote, she later withdrew that amendment and joined other Republicans in proposing an even longer delay.

It appears that under a Senate agreement reached in late December, the planned January debate on further increasing the U.S. debt ceiling will include a vote on Sen. Murkowski’s amendment, which according to Robert Dillon, a spokesman for Senator Murkowski, says is very much like the original amendment.

Most people do not understand that the economic impact of the Cap-and-Trade bill will increase your utility bill substantially, and it does not stop there. Everything and everybody that use utilities to support their business will also have to pass alone this increase to consumers, in other words to you. So the home utility consumer not only gets it stuck to them once, but again and again and again, in everything that they buy. My electricity provider says to expect a minimum of a 50% increase the first year and to expect that to double again 3 - 5 years later, if Cap-and-Trade passes. Those who favor this bill say it will create jobs, but one only has to look at the news over the past few days to see that two major "Green" companies are moving their operations out of the United States. One is going to China, the other Mexico. If the idea is to create jobs, shouldn't the be created for those of us in the United States. After all we will be paying for them!

Like Health Care, I believe most people will agree that something needs to be done. But with a negative financial impact of this magnitude falling upon everyone in the United States, we don’t need to rush into a piece-meal solution tomorrow. This problem didn’t occur over night and will not be solved over night. Any attempt to do so would be a grave disservice on the American consumer, and devastating to the American Taxpayer.

If you agree, then I urge you to support Senator Murkowski in her efforts, Lord knows she will need all the support she can get to obtain the 60 votes she needs, to slow down this legislation and think things out, before making more hap-hazzard, poorly thought-out, ego- based legislation that will take more money out of the hands of the American Taxpayer.

Please remember - United We Stand – Keep the pressure on your elected officials, write your senators and congressmen, and always remember – 2nd Chronicles 7:14, and Keep Looking Up!

Pearl Harbor Day vs. Islamic New Year!

Pearl Harbor Day vs. Islamic New Year!

A Slap In The Face To WW-II Veterans or, Unpatriotic Action or, Political Correctness Run Amuck?

Which is more important to the customers of Pubix Grocers, which happens to be one of the top 10 largest "volume" supermarket chains in the United States - - Pearl Harbor Day or the Islamic New Year?

Pompano Beach, Florida, became the site of an explosive outrage over a popular supermarket chain’s release of its 2010 calendar. Making the "date which will live in infamy" the main topic of her radio show, talk-show host Joyce Kaufman (WFTL Radio in South Florida) fueled the debate.

The controversy began when Publix, a popular privately held supermarket chain, published a 2010 calendar marking the date of Dec. 7 with the Islamic New Year, while eliminating any mention of Pearl Harbor Day, commemorating the 1941 attack on the U.S. by Japan.

Ms. Kaufman stated, "We have guys that are fighting Islamic fundamentalists right now in Afghanistan and guarding them from ruining what little freedom they have achieved in Iraq, a nd now I gotta celebrate their new year over here in my country when they're getting on airplanes and trying to blow up planes out of the sky in Detroit? I gotta have their New Year's Day on my calendar and not Pearl Harbor Day? We've lost our minds!"

It appears that this is not the first year Publix did not mention Pearl Harbor Day on their calendars. An unidentified man claimed that he had spoken with two managers at two separate Publix stores, and both of them confirmed the 2009 edition of the calendar also had no mention of Pearl Harbor Day.

This year, while Publix's calendar is marking well-known observances such as Passover and Palm Sunday, it also includes some obscure times including National Boss Day and Professional Assistant's Day. Ironically, the calendar has a laundry list of independence days for foreign countries such as Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Central America, Cuba, Haiti, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay and Trinidad and Tobago.

Jeff Katz, fellow broadcaster with Joyce Kaufman, stated, "That's nice, but don't you find it odd, though, that in South Florida with such a large Jewish population, they don't bother to mention Israeli Independence Day? I found that fascinating. Again, that would be a decision that someone in the Publix intergalactic headquarters had to make. Somebody had to decide, 'Here's what we're putting on, here's not what we're putting on;' or even worse, 'Here's what we're putting on, and here's what we're taking off.'"

In an e-mail statement to Kaufman, media and community-relations manager for the Miami division of Publix, Kimberly Jaeger, stated: For several years, Publix has given away calendars with valuable coupons inside. Traditionally, our calendars have solely noted holidays. Due to the number of holidays in a calendar year, days of remembrance have not been noted.

This year, Islamic New Year happens to fall on Dec. 7. Like Chinese New Year, which is also a holiday, Islamic New Year rotates dates, is a holiday, and is noted on the calendar as such.

We regret that the day of remembrance – Pearl Harbor – is not noted, and as a result of customer feedback, we will add Pearl Harbor to our next year's calendar. The calendars are no longer available at retail.

Though Kaufman declared victory after receiving the Publix e-mail, and highlighted the power ordinary citizens have when they speak out. Katz felt the action was more of "a deflective move." Katz said, "That's designed to get you to just simmer down, just to say, ‘Hey, it’s enough already. Stop talking about it. Talk about how cold it is and mention the fact that Publix sells a lot of stuff to help you deal with the cold.’" Katz added, "There is a much bigger issue at stake. and that's about education and that's about knowledge ... and the sacrifices of our American heroes. ... My concern today was what was missing."

At least one woman caller agreed, she said, "This is bigger than Publix," explaining many calendars published in America today don’t mention Pearl Harbor Day on Dec. 7. "Someone has deliberately made the deliberate decision to keep it off the calendars," she said. "It’s a slap in the face to America, a slap in the face to our veterans, and I'm just sick about it."

It was the December 1941 attack on U.S. forces in Hawaii that precipitated America's entry into the Second World War.

The day after the Japanese onslaught, President Franklin Roosevelt declared, "Yesterday, December 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."

According to the Naval History and Heritage Command, 2,403, Americans lost their lives that day, including 68 civilians, and 1,178, military and civilians were wounded during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Operating mostly to the South Eastern United States, Publix has 729 stores in Florida - 177 stores in Georgia - 42 stores in South Carolina - 39 stores in Alabama - and 27 stores in Tennessee.

Publix was founded by the late George W. Jenkins in 1930 in Winter Haven, Fla. Publix is the largest employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States and one of the 10 largest-volume supermarket chains in the United States. Publix' retail sales reached nearly $24 billion in 2008, and the store employes more than 142,000 people.

Contact Publix and let them know how you feel:

Publix Calendar omits Pearl Harbor Day, but marks Islamic New Year instead.

Publix has published a calendar that omits Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on 12/7 and marks the Islamic New Year. Call the Publix Corporate Offices and express your thoughts on the matter.

10 Key Reasons for Conservative success in 2010

Dear Friends,

As the 2010 campaign year starts to rev up, I certainly hope Conservatives will bring the following 10 examples to the forefront. As you speak with your friends and family about Conservative candidates, I hope you utilize the following list of reasoning to help them make your case to voters this year. Above all else, please make sure you get voters to the polls. Far too often those “good intentions” to go vote, elect bad candidates! So make sure your vote counts – get to the polls and cast it.

10.    TARP or as I like to call it the Congressional Relief Action Program -  The money for TARP was so urgent that Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and company didn’t add any transparency to the process and now we don’t know where much of the money went.

9.      First Stimulus Bill - It stimulated spending in Democrat Congressional districts and created almost no new jobs.

8.      Auto Bailout - Another bailout and another expansion of government.

7.      ACORN – This corrupt organization was a favorite of House and Senate Democrats and well funded by their congressional patrons. Voters will remember.

6.      Obama Czars – Special advisors to the President, circumventing the traditional Congressional confirmation process.  The Obama administration’s widespread and deliberate use of “Czars” is a misuse of power and needs to be reined in.

5.      CAP and TAX – Another massive tax increase on American families and small businesses.

4.      Ben Nelson’s and Mary Landrieu’s Payoff – Ben Nelson sold his health care vote to Harry Reid for $300+ million in lower taxes for Nebraska.   It should also be remembered that Mary Landrieu was the first to sell her vote during the first round, for $300 Million and then bragged about it on her website. And these were just the tip of the iceberg of bribes that took place to get this behind closed door deal through the senate. (Italics indicate information added by Gary)

3.      The $12 Trillion+ National Debt – Democrats in Congress spending money they don’t have.  Mortgaging our children’s future.

2.      Nationwide Unemployment rate at 10% - The Democrats are spending money like it’s going out of style and yet they are ignoring policies that would create new jobs.

1.      The Government Takeover of Health Care - If the bill that comes out of Congress is signed into law, it will amount to a massive government expansion into our daily lives.  It is the number one reason why Democrats should be defeated.

Some reminders you may also wish to remember during this campaign year, is that during the 2008 Presidential campaign Barack Obama told audiences, “Judge me by the people with whom I surround myself.”

So Okay, let’s take a look:

John Holdren, science czar, advocates for population control using the most extreme measures, such as mandating the number of children Americans can have.

Cass Sunstein, regulatory czar and Harvard law professor, believes that animals should have the right to legal representation.

Ezekiel Emanuel, healthcare czar, believes in using cost-benefit and comparative-benefit analysis to allocate healthcare resources.  This means the fewer years you have left to live, the less cost-effective it is to treat you.

Van Jones, Green Jobs Czar Van Jones: Republicans Are "A**holes"

Mark Loyd, FCC 'diversity czar,' supports Communist Hugo Chavez in Venezuela and believes that what Chavez did to squelch free speech in the media and seize the means of communication is a good model for the United States.

As Candidate and as President, Obama stated “My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government.  We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.” I have to ask what happened to all this promised transparency? All I have seen from this Administration and Congressional leadership is backroom deals being done behind closed, locked doors, through panes of glass that have been totally blackened out!  2000 page plus pieces of Legislation released only hours before votes are taken, not giving legislators or the public the opportunity to read about our Constitutionally guaranteed liberties that may be taken away from “The People.”  News from the White House, by their own admission, is highly controlled.  Sanitized news is being given only to “friendly” media outlets, which included every liberal media outlet but excludes media such as FOX News, which actually reports “news.” The entire transparency “policy” statement can be found at the White House website: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/TransparencyandOpenGovernment/

As I stated in a previous post, I’m not looking forward to three more years of the kinds of changes we are seeing from this Congress and this Administration. Quite frankly, I do not believe the country can survive it.  I am a firm believer that the future of this country, as we knew it and grew up in it, depends on the outcome of these ultra important 2010 elections.  We have the opportunity to change 1/3 of the Senate and totally change the House of Representatives in 2010.  If The People are successful here, then we will have the opportunity to change another 1/3 of the senate and clean up any left-over mistakes in the house, and change our greatest mistake, the White House, in 2012.  If these two elections are successful, the remainder of the elite, self-centered, arrogant senators can be dealt with in 2014 and we will have successfully taken back control of our country.

Clearly, we have two options. We can get active in the political system and vote for those who share our views, and against those who do not, or we can stay home, set back and watch and listen to Obama media indoctrination and propaganda, which is exactly what it is.

The future of this country is totally in your hands.  EVERYTHING DEPENDS COMPLETELY ON YOU!  What an awesome responsibility our forefathers left us  –  Though it has a few battle scars and may have been somewhat bruised during this past year, it is still OUR Constitution!

I want to thank the fine folks at Mike Huckabee's huckpac.com (see website at https://www.huckpac.com) for coming up with the 10 very important election points.  We can all benefit from using these reminders during this campaign.

I hope each and every one of you has a safe, great, and prosperous New Year.

Gary

2009 Political Year in Review

Dear Friends,

What a year to review.  About this time last year many of us were expecting “Change” from the Obama Administration.  Some of us were in fear of exactly what this change might involve.  Some of us were welcoming a change from “same-old, same-old” irresponsible Washington politics we had gotten use to and looking forward to new a change and “transparence” in Government.

Now that nearly a year has passed since the inauguration of Obama, We now, have a clear view of what kind of change the Obama Administration had in mind.  Obama’s definition of “Transparency” is backroom deals being done behind closed, locked doors, through panes of glass that have been totally blackened out!  2000 page plus pieces of Legislation released only hours before votes are taken, not giving legislators or the public the opportunity to read about Constitutional guaranteed liberties, that may be taken away from “The People.”  News from the White House, by their own admission, is highly controlled.  Sanitized news is being given only to “friendly” media outlets, which is nearly every liberal media outlet but FOX News.  Increased bureaucracy, a.k.a., transfer of power from “The People” to the government bureaucrats, largely accomplished through a transfer wealth from unworthy rich people to more deserving poor people via the government.  Thereby proving, in their eyes, that it is the government who would and should be deciding how wealth should be shared. What cars should be made, what Government approved Health Care Insurance YOU WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE, what banks can loan money on homes and which ones cannot, how much money people will be allowed to earn, who can and who cannot be CEO’s of corporations, and which News Media are acceptable outlets and which ones are not.  Not to mention the majority party leadership has deemed itself untouchable by, as well as being unaccountable to, the American electorate!

I believe at this juncture it is safe to say that many, if not most, of us are pretty dissatisfied with the “Change” we are seeing and is about to impact us.  That is if we care at all, or have taken the simple initiative to research these things on our own, and not just listen to what the media “tells” us is going on or is good for us.  I have sadly learned the BBC is much more accurate and far more informative than the three major American networks.  Most of what I learned about the Health Care bill I learned from the BBC, which was shocked by the stupidity of the Americans at wanting a Health Care system the Brits wanted to get rid of and was proven not to work.  But then again, we do have the very best politicians that money can buy!

Our founding fathers came from oppressive governments that failed because of these very reasons. They created a nation of “The People,” by “The People” and for “The People” using the concept of shared but limited powers between three equal branches of Government that has a system of checks and balances.  This concept is referred to as a Republic.  They gave us a tool by which to maintain this Republic, called the Constitution.  This document guaranteed “The People” that no single branch of government, or any single political party, or any single individual, could get too powerful.

Unfortunately, our Republic seems to be suffering from an illness called “The People’s Apathy.”

Though in recent months, some people have taken to pen, email, and public meetings and voiced their concerns, the fact remains that after only one year we have “Change” but in this form:

•           A fabricated global warming crisis has been promoted by the US worldwide.

•           The administration is willing to commit $100 Billion without Senate consent.

•           The banking system has been nationalized.

•           The real estate credit industry has nationalized.

•           Two of the three car companies have been nationalized.

•           The health care system is about to be nationalized and forced upon you.

•           30 million people have been promised free health care.

•           The Energy infrastructure is about to be nationalized. (Cap and Trade)

•           Unions have been given executive powers over privately owned businesses.

•           America is dependent on foreign oil because US companies are denied from using our own oil – which we have plenty of.

•           Clean Natural Gas Technology being ignored.

•           Arab counties have been encouraged to develop weapons of mass destruction and use them.

•           Obama has nearly turned his back on Israel and reportedly is cutting backroom deals with Islamic Terrorist leaders concerning Israel’s sovereignty.

•           Appeasement of North Korea and Iran.

•           Obama has bowed submissively to foreign leaders and apologized for historic American actions.

•           Our Judicial system has been converted to defend terrorism.

•           Our income tax system will be expanded to confiscate all capital formation.

•           Our educational system is been converted to a cult honoring Obama.

•           Our free capitalist economy is being destroyed, to be rescued by a socialist government.

•           Social Security and Medicare are to be rationed by White House Czars.

•           Private ownership rights in businesses are being ignored.

•           Private property ownership rights being ignored.

•           And a new tax structure that we cannot even conceive, in order to pay the trillions of dollars being spent by this administration, the current congressional leadership, and liberal legislators.

•           Restrictions, fees, taxes and fines about to be placed on energy usage, the likes of which this country has never before seen – again Cap and Trade!

With all these issues being brought to light, and with Liberal legislators blatantly voting against the wishes of 60% of the people, there has to be a reason the Liberals are so confident in their arrogant actions during an election year.  However, we would be well advised to remember there is nearly 3/4 of a Trillion Dollars (more money than we can conceive) of the TARP money that has yet to be spent.  That is a lot of TV, Radio, Newspaper, Bumper Stickers, and campaign time for the Senators and Congressmen who are in trouble because they voted against our wishes on Health Care and will most likely do the same for the upcoming Cap and (tax) Trade legislation.  That is also a lot of money that can be funneled into districts for “pet” projects, especially those that require “construction” which will also require jobs be created to complete those “pet” projects.  And of course the Media will be slobbering all over themselves because of all the jobs being created by the great messiah and senator and/or congressman “so and so” and no one will think about what happens to the jobs once the “pet” project has been completed.  That is, until unemployment soars once again….

The liberals would love nothing more than to see a split in the Republican Party and that is a distinct possibility.  I’m not at all happy with the Republicans.  I view my voting for most of them as voting for “the lesser of two evils.”  I consider myself to be a strong conservative, but most definitely not a Republican.  The disgruntled conservatives, like myself, and independents, like many of my friends, are completely fed up with both parties and could easily agree on enough of the issues to come together and create a most formidable third party.  Though I’d absolutely love to see this occur, it would be totally disastrous at this time.  The result would be simply putting all those congressmen and senators we promised to never vote for again, right back in office, though-be-it without our votes.  I’m a firm believer of “Change” from within.  We need to get more active in seeking out good conservative candidates who will run for office.  Support them verbally, monetarily, physically and get them elected, and thereby change the party from within.

I’m not looking forward to three more years of these kinds of changes, and quite frankly I do not believe the country can survive it.  I am a firm believer that the future of this country, as we knew it and grew up in it, depends on the outcome of the 2010 elections.  We have the opportunity to change 1/3 of the Senate and totally change the House of Representatives in 2010.  If we are successful here, we will then have the opportunity to change another 1/3 of the senate and clean up any left-over mistakes in the house, and change our largest mistake, the White House, in 2012.  If these two elections are successful, the remainder of the elite, self-centered, arrogant senators can be dealt with in 2014 and we will have successfully taken back control of our country.  Clearly, we have two options, get active in the political system and vote for those who share our views, and against those who do not, or stay home, set back and watch and listen to media indoctrination and propaganda, which is exactly what it is.  The future of this country is totally in your hands.  EVERYTHING DEPENDS COMPLETELY ON YOU!  What an awesome responsibility our forefathers left us  –  Though it has a few battle scars and may have been somewhat bruised during this past year, it is still OUR Constitution!

I hope each and every one of you has a safe, great, and prosperous New Year.

Sincerely,

Gary

Bribes - Selling votes in Congress!

Dear Friends,

I remember hearing this story years ago. I think, though it may shock some of you, it is an appropriate example of the current administration’s policies of forcing legislation on all of us, support it or not.

A very wealthy, gentleman, early in his golden years of life, entered a very exclusive hotel to obtain his reserved and waiting room.

As he stood patiently awaiting a bellhop to assist him with his luggage, a very beautiful young lady entered the lobby and stood near his side, as she waited for her room key.

Stunned by her beauty, the gentleman inquired of the young lady, “Miss, I am quite wealthy. I have been a widower for slightly over two years. I am quite lonely and desire the company of a beautiful lady such as yourself. Would you consider spending the evening with me, if I paid you $10 million dollars?

Shocked by the gentleman’s advance, not to mention his offer, but without hesitation the beautiful young lady replied, “Yes! Yes, I would.”

Perfectly pleased by the young lady’s response, the gentlemen looked directly into her beautiful green eyes and asked, “Would you spend the evening with me for $100?”

Shocked, stunned, and offended, the young lady responded, “No! Absolutely NOT! Just exactly what do you think I am?”

Totally in stride and with a calm soothing voice, the gentleman replied, “Miss, we have already established exactly what you are, now, all that is left, is for us to negotiate a price.”

This is an old story that you may have heard years ago. However, I believe it accurately describes what is currently going on in the House and Senate of the United States.  I honestly hope this cavalier comparison between prostitutes and politicians does not offend any honorable prostitute who may happen to read what I am about to write.

Sadly, certain House and Senate members have voluntarily elected to sell their dignity, their honor, their values, their commitments to their constituents, along with their Constitutional oaths of office, to the Congressional Leadership at “individually negotiated prices, while at the same time, selling out the vast majority of their constituents.

Unfortunately, unlike the elderly gentleman in my story above, the American Tax Payer was not allowed to negotiate the price for the “servicing” we got. The Tax Payer was Pimped Out by the likes of Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid. As best as I can determine  from information available on the internet, Senator Reid paid over $1.1 Billion dollars for 2 votes, not counting the “sweet heart” deal Senator Ben Nelson demanded for Nebraska, just to make sure the Health Care bill would pass the latest round in the Senate. That is, of course, above and beyond the $300 Million, Harry Reid paid to the harlot Mary Landrieu (D-LA) for her deciding vote during the first round that virtually guaranteed the passage of this controversial and partisan bill.

Now whether you favored this bill or, like the majority of my friends and family, did not want passage of this bill, I do not believe either of these is the actual damming issue at this point.  As an adamant opponent of this Health Care bill, though I am extremely angry at those members who accepted the “bribe” money for their votes, I am far more angry at Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi for spending “MY” tax dollars, to promote passage of a bill that I bitterly oppose, and “Bribe” members of the House and Senate to vote against my wishes and the wishes of most of the American People!

Fortunately, this fight is not entirely over. There is a slim chance the bill can still be defeated - very slim, and then only if the people keep up the pressure on their Senators.  However, the chances of defeating this bill are absolutely ZERO, if the people do nothing and remain silent. Please write your elected officials.

The elections of 2010 come early this year, occurring on November 2. It is my intention to reopen “negotiations” of the price for keeping these arrogant politicians in office.  Many would disagree with me, but I stand firm on the principal that offering a bribe to a member of Congress and/or accepting a bribe by a member of Congress, is reprehensible.  This is a crime against the People of the United States - the only difference here is that the offender was the House and Senate Leadership - Pelosi and Reid. I don’t care if this practice is “legal” or not.  I find it unethical, immoral, and it just flat ain’t right, folks! I would hope the American electorate can and will maintain their anger, and will have the fortitude to stand up at the next three elections - 2010, 2012, and 2014 and send a clear loud message to our obnoxious elected elite that “we ain’t happy, and we ain’t gonna stand for it anymore!”  Like the umpire says when the ball beats the runner - - “You’re OUT!”

Sincerely,

Gary W. Lowe
